River was adopted from a local shelter during "Clear the Shelter" week. Sadly, many of those adoptions are not successful as people don't think through the responsibility of having a pet. The person who surrendered him said the resident dog didn't like River and when surrendered to us, we noticed River's paperwork listed him as fearful.

We were concerned because when he first came to us, he was terrified and wouldn't let us pick him up without giving biting you a try. But one of our fosters took him home and within 12 hours had him relaxed and feeling like part of the family. Since then River has changed fosters and still is doing remarkably well.

He is an active, friendly little guy who is quite unique looking. We are totally guessing at terrier/dachshund mix - we just know he is adorable. If you are interested in adopting River, please fill out an application here.
