Meet Crypto!

Some dogs wear their hearts on their sleeves. Crypto keeps his tucked away...at least until he knows he's safe. Once you've earned his trust, you'll discover a sweet, affectionate little guy whose favorite place is curled up next to his person after a fund day of playing.

Crypto is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. He absolutely loves romping around the yard, chasing zoomies with his doggy friends, and a good wrestling match before settling in for some well-deserved snuggles. He's wonderful with dogs both big and small, has excellent manners around food and toys, and isn't interested in being the boss. If another dogs lets him know he's crossed a line, Crypto happily backs off. He's simply looking for friends, not drama.

Like many dogs, Crypto will need a little patience during his transition into a new home. He can be shy when meeting new people, and strangers approaching quickly can make him nervous. But with kindness, consistency, and a little confidence-building, he continues to blossom. Watching a timid dog learn that the world isn't so scary is one of the most rewarding experiences, and Crypto is absolutely worth the investment.

His new family should know that he may try to mark during his first few days while settling in, so a belly band is recommended initially. Once he's adjusted and kept on a consistent potty routine, he does very well. He's crate trained, keeps his crate clean, sleeps there overnight, and is content when left home. He isn't much of a barker, though he may let out a few little whistles or whines before settling.

Crypto is also quite the athlete! He can jump impressively high and may try to investigate anything that looks interesting on chairs or tables, so keeping tempting items out of reach is important. Because he can be startled outdoors and may try to slip out of his harness or dart through an open door, he'll need a family committed to using secure equipment, practicing safe door manners, and providing a yard with at least a 5-foot fence.

We think Crypto would thrive in a home with another playful dog who can help build his confidence and share in backyard adventures before everyone piles together for an evening of cuddles. Cats are currently unknown but can be tested for the right home. Children are also unknown, though we suspect he'll do well with respectful kids who understand that trust takes time.

If you're looking for a dog who will instantly love everyone, Crypto probably isn't your guy. But if you're looking for the kind of bond that's earned with patience, love, and understanding - a bond that becomes unbreakable - Crypto is waiting to meet you. Sometimes the very best companions are the ones who simply need someone willing to believe in them first.
